St.Kitts-Nevis’ Under-18 Girls Handball team leave Barbados for Canada.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis, October 13, 2019 – The St Kitts and Nevis Under-18 Handball team leaves Barbados on Sunday afternoon for Canada without a female coach and chaperone to attend the International Handball Federation Games.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Sports, Hon Shawn Richards, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Tom Buchanan and Acting Director of Sports, Anthony Wiltshire have refused to give Mrs.Hilarine Blanchette time off from work to perform national duties. The girls are in the care of two males.
While the necessary travelling documents were being processed in Barbados and Trinidad over the past few days, the teens participated in warm-up matches against a select Barbados women’s team.
They will arrive in Toronto early Monday morning (October 14) and then travel to Montreal where they will play their first game at 4 pm on Tuesday (October 15) against Guadeloupe.
The St Kitts and Nevis squad are the only English-speaking team in Group A, which also includes Martinique and the United States. Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico are in Group B.
